Puerto Central, Chile: leading with digital techs

Within PCE's expansion plan context, Flux IT Ports joined the terminal towards the digitalization of their core processes and the incorporation of highly competitive solutions in the market.


Puerto Central S.A operates at the Espigón berth area of the Port of San Antonio in Chile since 2011. The provided services include:

In 2012 PCE started an ambitious investment plan, including the construction of a new berth of 700 meters. This plan is the largest in magnitude in all of Chile aiming at providing efficient and flexible services for the needs of customers in a global and competitive market.


With an ambitious goal (to become the largest port in Chile), Puerto Central sought to digitalize core operations between players and the terminal.

Knowing that their competition was already using a tool with similar features, was essential to create a solution that would be a novelty in the market. It had to be developed in a digital format, allowing external and internal users to operate anywhere and in a more agile way.

As greenfield port, they could start from scratch and plan a technology strategy that would surpass their competition’s.


Flux IT customized the terminal operating system (TOS), providing a solution based on three main task areas: Business Portal, Document Platform and technology consulting.

Business Portal, makes it possible for all transactions to be completed remotely, without having to come to the port, and covers up all the core processes of the port business performed by internal and external users —such as customs agents.

The solution allows to manage all required information to operate, generate reports and cargo invoices, manage the delivery and reception of containers, and make payments through an online platform.

On the other hand, we developed a Document Platform to generate reports required by Federal Customs and to comply with all auditing processes. This solution optimize the management of the port terminal and it is also ready to incorporate any new documents that might be required in the future.


Information Integration

Greater efficiency in information management through the automation of processes with customs, vessel agencies, Chile’s crop/livestock farming services sector (SAG), and PCE’s core business. Reducing the data load of customs agents by 80%. As a result, the terminal counts with a simple and intuitive platform to complete all operations.

Management of Users and Permissions

Business Portal enables customs agencies to manage their own agents, authorizing them to operate at PCE’s portal as employees of the customs agency.


The solution assures an strict compliance with standard access security protocols and digital information backup. Transactions are followed up by reports, and reports are backed up to provide answers during auditing processes.


A notification mechanism, notifies the users about the statuses of their operations in real time. This reduces the time spend in searches and queries.
